My Life Before and After Choosing Change
If you look at my life today, it might seem like everything finally came together—health, strength, clarity, and a sense of purpose I didn’t have before. But what most people don’t see is the contrast. The “before” version of my life looked very different. And the truth is, nothing changed until I made one decision—to choose change, even when it felt uncomfortable and uncertain.
Before that decision, my life felt heavy. Not in a way that was always visible, but in a way I carried with me every single day. In 2015, I was diagnosed with infertility, and that moment quietly shifted everything. It wasn’t just a medical condition—it changed how I saw my future. The life I had imagined suddenly felt uncertain, and I didn’t know how to deal with that.
Instead of slowing down and processing what I was feeling, I went into action mode. I told myself I would fix it, that I would fight for the life I wanted. That mindset led me into years of IVF treatments. From 2015 to 2022, my life revolved around appointments, procedures, medications, and hope.
On the outside, it looked like I was determined.
But on the inside, I was exhausted.
In 2019, I experienced a moment that felt like everything was finally working—I got pregnant. For a short time, I allowed myself to believe that all the struggle had been worth it. I imagined a future I had been waiting for. But just nine weeks later, during an ultrasound, everything changed. There was no heartbeat.
That moment changed me in ways I didn’t fully understand at the time. It wasn’t just loss—it was a deep emotional impact that stayed with me. But instead of stopping and allowing myself to process it, I kept going. I continued IVF treatments for three more years, holding onto hope even as it became harder to carry.
At the same time, I was dealing with another loss. In 2017, I lost my mother. That kind of loss doesn’t just disappear—it stays with you. She was the person I would have turned to during all of this, and without her, everything felt heavier.
Before choosing change, my life felt like a cycle.
A cycle of pushing, hoping, and surviving.
I wasn’t living with intention.
I was reacting to everything around me.
Eventually, my body forced me to stop. After years of hormone treatments, I had a severe allergic reaction and ended up in the emergency room. That moment gave me something I hadn’t allowed myself to have in a long time—stillness.
And in that stillness, I saw the truth.
I couldn’t keep living like this.
I had spent years trying to control things that were out of my hands, and in the process, I had lost control of myself. That realization wasn’t easy, but it was necessary.
On November 27, 2022, I made a decision.
I chose change.
Not because I felt ready.
But because I knew I needed something different.
The “after” version of my life didn’t start perfectly. There was no sudden transformation. It started with small, intentional steps. I worked with a dietitian to improve my relationship with food and understand how my habits were affecting my body and mind.
I committed to a detox, even though I had doubts.
And slowly, I began to feel a shift.
After choosing change, my focus became different. Instead of trying to fix everything at once, I started focusing on what I could control—my actions, my habits, and my mindset.
In January 2023, I joined a gym and started working with a personal trainer. It was challenging, and there were many days when I didn’t feel motivated. But I showed up anyway.
That’s what change looked like.
Not motivation.
Consistency.
A few months later, I discovered Aquabike classes, and that became a turning point. It gave me structure, energy, and a sense of progress. I also found a supportive community, which made a big difference in staying committed.
Within 90 days, I began to see changes—not just physically, but mentally. My energy improved. My mindset became clearer. I felt more in control of my life.
But the biggest difference wasn’t just what I did.
It was how I thought.
Before choosing change, I focused on what I couldn’t control.
After choosing change, I focused on what I could build.
That shift changed everything.
Six months later, I became a certified Aquabike fitness instructor. That moment was more than just an achievement—it was proof that the decision I made months earlier had created something real.
Looking back, I can clearly see the difference between my life before and after that choice.
Before, I was surviving.
After, I was building.
Before, I felt stuck.
After, I felt in control.
Before, I was waiting for something to change.
After, I became the reason things changed.
Today, I am stronger, healthier, and more grounded than I have ever been. I still carry my past with me, but it no longer defines me. Instead, it reminds me of what I’ve overcome and what I’m capable of achieving.
If you’re in a place where you feel stuck—where your life feels heavy and uncertain—I want you to know this:
Change doesn’t start when everything is perfect.
It starts when you decide.
You don’t need a perfect plan.
You don’t need to have everything figured out.
You just need to take the first step.
Because one decision can create a completely different path.
My life didn’t change overnight.
But it changed the moment I chose it.
And that choice made all the difference.
