This Journey Nearly Broke Me—But I Came Back Stronger
This is my story, written from my heart. There was a time in my life when I honestly didn’t know if I would make it through. Not just physically, but emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Life kept taking things away from me faster than I could recover, and I felt like I was slowly losing myself in the process. But somehow, piece by piece, I found my way back. This journey nearly broke me—but it also rebuilt me.
My struggle began long before the transformation people see today. In 2015, I was diagnosed with infertility and told by doctors that I would likely never be able to conceive naturally. That single moment changed everything in my life. From 2015 to 2022, I went through multiple rounds of IVF (In Vitro Fertilization), holding on to hope even when the process became physically exhausting, emotionally draining, and financially overwhelming. My life became a cycle of procedures, medications, surgeries, and waiting. But through it all, I never let go of my dream of becoming a mother.
In 2019, I finally became pregnant, and I was told I was expecting a baby girl. My due date was January 2020. For the first time in years, I allowed myself to feel happiness again. I started imagining a future I had prayed for so deeply. But that happiness didn’t last. At a routine ultrasound appointment, I was told there was no heartbeat. I lost my baby. That moment broke something inside me that I didn’t know could break. The pain was indescribable, like my entire world had suddenly collapsed. I had to keep going, even while carrying a grief that felt unbearable.
In the middle of this journey, I also carried another deep loss. In 2017, I lost my mother to heart disease. Losing her left me feeling completely alone and emotionally lost. She was my foundation, and without her, everything felt harder. So when I experienced the loss of my pregnancy as well, the grief became even heavier. It felt like one wave of pain never ended before another one began. I went through a very dark emotional period where I struggled to find meaning, direction, or peace in my life.
There were times when everything felt overwhelming, and I couldn’t see a way forward. But deep inside, there was still a small part of me that didn’t want to give up completely. That small voice kept me going, even when everything else felt broken. Eventually, my body also began to show the impact of years of stress and hormone treatments. One day, I ended up in the emergency room after an allergic reaction to long-term medication. Lying there, exhausted and overwhelmed, I realized I had spent years trying to survive everything happening around me, but I had completely neglected myself. That moment became a turning point in my life.
I made a decision that I needed to change. I didn’t know exactly how, but I knew I couldn’t continue living the same way. I met with a dietitian who helped me understand that my healing had to start from within—my mindset, my habits, and my relationship with food. I committed myself to change and completed a 28-day medically supervised detox program. During that time, I lost inflammation weight, but more importantly, I began to feel a shift in my body and mind. For the first time in a long time, I felt like healing was possible.
After that, I continued focusing on rebuilding my health step by step. In January 2023, I joined a gym and started working with a personal trainer once a week. It wasn’t easy at all. Some days I didn’t feel like going, and some days I wanted to quit completely. But I kept showing up, even when it was difficult. Later, in May 2023, I discovered Aquabike classes, and that became a turning point in my fitness journey. I found a supportive community and a form of exercise that I genuinely enjoyed. I started attending classes 3–4 times a week and followed my nutrition plan consistently.
Within 90 days, I began to see real changes not just in my body, but in my entire life. My energy improved, my mood lifted, my sleep got better, and I started feeling like myself again. I wasn’t just losing weight—I was slowly rebuilding my identity and confidence. Over time, I became more independent in my fitness journey and started exploring new classes and challenges. I became part of a supportive gym community that felt like family, and that support helped me stay consistent and motivated.
Eventually, something I never imagined happened—I became a certified Aquabike fitness instructor. The journey that once felt like it was breaking me had now transformed into something meaningful and powerful. I found purpose in my pain and strength in my struggles.
On 11/27/2022, I weighed 195 lbs. On 11/27/2025, I weigh 125 lbs. But this transformation is not just about numbers. It is about healing, resilience, and rebuilding a life after loss. It is about learning how to stand again after feeling completely broken. It is about choosing yourself even after everything feels lost.
Today, I stand with gratitude for how far I have come. I am not the same person I was three years ago. I carry my scars, but I also carry my strength. And if this story can remind even one person that healing is possible, then every part of this journey was worth it.
