3 Years That Completely Transformed My Life
Three years may not seem like a long time in the grand scheme of life, but for me, those three years changed everything. They transformed my body, strengthened my mind, healed parts of my heart I thought were broken forever, and helped me discover a version of myself I never knew existed. When I look back at where I was three years ago and compare it to where I am today, it almost feels like I’m looking at two completely different people.
The truth is, my transformation didn’t begin with weight loss. It didn’t begin with fitness classes or a healthy eating plan. It began with pain. Years of infertility, grief, stress, heartbreak, and emotional exhaustion had left me physically and mentally drained. Before I could transform my body, I had to make the decision to save myself.
My struggles started long before my transformation journey. In 2015, I was diagnosed with infertility and told I would likely never be able to conceive naturally. Hearing those words felt devastating. Like many women, I had always imagined becoming a mother one day, and suddenly that dream felt uncertain. Despite the diagnosis, I refused to give up. I spent the next several years pursuing IVF treatments, surgeries, hormone therapies, and countless medical procedures in hopes of becoming a mother.
The journey was exhausting. Every treatment brought hope, and every setback brought heartbreak. Physically, the medications and procedures took a toll on my body. Emotionally, I felt like I was constantly riding a roller coaster between optimism and disappointment. Still, I kept fighting because I believed my dream was worth fighting for.
Then in 2019, something incredible happened. After years of trying, I became pregnant. For the first time in a long time, I felt genuine joy and excitement. I was told I was having a baby girl, and I began imagining a future that felt bright and hopeful. I pictured holding her, watching her grow, and finally experiencing the motherhood I had dreamed about for so long.
But nine weeks later, during a routine ultrasound, I was told there was no heartbeat.
I lost my baby.
That moment shattered me. The grief was overwhelming. It felt as though the future I had fought so hard for disappeared in an instant. I felt broken, lost, and completely devastated. No amount of preparation could have prepared me for that kind of pain.
As difficult as that loss was, it wasn’t the only grief I was carrying. In 2017, I lost my mother to heart disease. She was my greatest source of comfort, guidance, and support. Losing her left a permanent void in my life. Without her, I often felt alone and unsure of how to navigate the challenges I was facing.
The combination of losing my mother and losing my baby pushed me into one of the darkest periods of my life. I felt consumed by sadness, anger, and hopelessness. The emotional burden became so heavy that it affected every area of my life. My physical health declined, my energy disappeared, and my confidence reached an all-time low.
For years, I felt trapped in a cycle of grief and disappointment. Then, three years ago, everything changed.
The turning point came after I experienced an allergic reaction to hormone medication and ended up in the emergency room. Sitting there, reflecting on the previous seven years of my life, I realized something important. I had spent years fighting for things I could not control while completely neglecting the one thing I could control—my own health and well-being.
That realization became my wake-up call.
On November 27, 2022, I made a decision that would ultimately transform my life. I decided to stop waiting for circumstances to change and start changing myself instead. I didn’t know exactly how I would do it, but I knew I couldn’t continue living the way I had been.
My first step was meeting with a dietitian. She helped me understand that true health involved more than just losing weight. My mindset, habits, emotional health, and relationship with food all needed attention. For years, I had been carrying emotional weight that was just as heavy as the physical weight I carried.
I committed to a medically supervised detox program and began making healthier choices. The changes were small at first, but they were consistent. Slowly, I started feeling better. I lost inflammation, gained energy, and began experiencing something I hadn’t felt in years—hope.
In January 2023, I joined a gym and started working with a personal trainer. To be honest, there were many days when I didn’t want to go. There were days when I felt tired, discouraged, or overwhelmed. But I kept showing up. I learned that transformation isn’t about motivation. It’s about commitment.
A few months later, I discovered Aquabike classes, and everything began to accelerate. For the first time, exercise became something I genuinely enjoyed. I found a supportive community that encouraged me and celebrated my progress. I attended classes three to four times a week while staying committed to my nutrition plan.
Within 90 days, the changes were undeniable. I dropped multiple clothing sizes. My energy improved. My sleep improved. My mood improved. But the greatest changes weren’t physical. They were happening inside me.
I was becoming stronger.
I was becoming more confident.
I was becoming more resilient.
Most importantly, I was learning how to believe in myself again.
As the months passed, I continued pushing myself outside of my comfort zone. I became more involved in fitness, built stronger habits, and developed a level of discipline I never thought possible. Then something happened that would have seemed impossible just a few years earlier—I became a certified Aquabike fitness instructor.
The woman who once struggled just to make it through the day was now helping others improve their health and confidence.
Three years ago, I weighed 195 pounds. Today, I weigh 125 pounds. While losing 70 pounds is something I’m incredibly proud of, it’s not what defines my transformation. The greatest change happened in my heart and mind.
I learned that healing is possible.
I learned that grief doesn’t have to define your future.
I learned that discipline can create extraordinary results.
Most importantly, I learned that even after your darkest moments, life can still surprise you with new purpose and new opportunities.
These three years completely transformed my life. They taught me that growth is possible even after heartbreak. They taught me that strength is built during difficult seasons. And they showed me that the person you become through adversity can be stronger than you ever imagined.
Today, I celebrate more than weight loss. I celebrate resilience, commitment, healing, and the courage to keep going when life felt impossible. Those three years changed everything, and they gave me a life I am proud to live.
